| 08 Jun 2026 | Collision | The passenger and vehicle ferry Andros King (IMO 9348558) was involved in a berthing incident at the port of Rafina, Greece, on the evening of Monday, June 8, 2026. Incident DetailsThe Event: While maneuvering to berth after arriving from its regular route (Mykonos, Tinos, and Andros), the vessel struck a northern concrete jetty. The force of the impact was significant enough to split the concrete structure into two, with sections of the jetty being displaced from their original positions. Conditions: Northerly winds of Force 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale were reported in the area during the vessel's arrival. Vessel Load: At the time of the incident, the ferry was carrying 283 passengers and a crew of 60, along with a mix of vehicles including private cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Outcome and StatusInjuries and Pollution: There were no injuries reported among the passengers or crew. However, technical inspections determined the Andros King remained seaworthy. Resumption of Service: Following the inspections, the ferry was cleared to resume its schedule and departed for its next commercial voyage the following morning, June 9, at approximately 07:50 a.m.. The Port Authority of Rafina has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the collision to examine the navigational, operational, and environmental factors involved. |
