28 May 2026War DamageVanuatu-flagged general cargo ship Ant—owned by a Turkish company—was struck by a Russian drone while transiting Ukraine's maritime export corridor in the Black Sea. The vessel was en route from a port in the Odesa region to Türkiye carrying cargo at the time of the attack. Incident Details: The drone struck the ship's superstructure, causing a fire in the wheelhouse and upper deck areas. Casualties: Two crew members were injured in the attack. They were evacuated by the Ukrainian Navy and transported to a medical facility for treatment. Current Status: Following the incident, the vessel was towed for repairs. By June 8, 2026, it was observed passing through the Istanbul Strait under tow by tugs supplied by the Directorate General of Coastal Safety. The vessel has since been taken to a shipyard in Yalova, Türkiye, for inspections to determine whether repairs are economically viable; if not, the ship may be sent to Aliağa, Izmir, for scrapping. The two injured crew members have reportedly recovered and returned home.
02 Jun 2023CollisionVessel was struck by general cargo ship POTENTIA, 9 nm north of northwest tip of Chios island, Greece, while en route from I Egypt to Reni, Ukraine. POTENTIA struck ANT starboard in cargo hold area, inflicting hull breach. No injuries reported. All crew remained on board.
