DateTypeDetails
15 Apr 2026Mechanical FaultDate: April 15 – May 2026 (Ongoing) Location: Søby, Ærø, Denmark Nature of Incident: Extended yard stay and maintenance delay during a premature overhaul of the vessel's 4.3 MWh lithium-ion battery system. The replacement has proven more complex than anticipated, extending the initial May 16 return-to-service date. Voyage Details: Servicing the 22-nautical-mile domestic route between Søby (Ærø) and Fynshav (Als). Outcome: The total battery replacement cost is estimated by the operator, Ærøfærgerne, at DKK 28 million (€3.75 million). The overhaul was required earlier than the system's projected 10-year lifespan due to heavy duty-cycle degradation and extended periods operating at reduced capacity. Recommissioning is now scheduled for May 26, 2026, with the ferry expected to remain out of service until the end of the month. No injuries or pollution have been reported.
17 Feb 2025Mechanical FaultHad technical problems which led disruption of sailings from Soby to Fynshav, Denmark on 17 Feb 2025. Battery issues forced shipping company to cancel one of its daily double trips reducing total from 5 to 4.
01 Oct 2024Mechanical FaultAll departures from Soby and Fynshav canceled due to technical problems after strong winds forced the vessel to remain in port at Soby, Denmark. Corrosion was detected in the battery system.
11 Jul 2023FireBattery compartment of vessel caught fire and disabled her. Fire was quickly extinguished by the foam automatic firefighting system. Trips connecting Danish ports Soby Havn and Fynshav were cancelled until 17 July, due to batteries needing replacing.
20 Dec 2022Mechanical FaultVessel had a short circuit in electric ferry's motor and sidelined in Soby, Denmark. Sailing was cancelled as she couldn't lift visor. A crane assisted to lift cars on board. Repairs were done at quay and she resumed service next day.
