06 Nov 2025PiracyVessel was attacked by armed pirates in the Indian Ocean, approximately 549 nautical miles east-southeast of Hobyo, Somalia, The incident occurred as the 50,000 dwt vessel was traveling from Sikka, India, to Durban, South Africa. It was attacked by pirates operating from a skiff launched from a suspected Iranian-flagged mothership. The pirates opened fire before boarding the tanker, which did not have an armed security team on board. At around 06:44 UTC, the vessel was seen changing its course and speed as it moved 546 nautical miles offshore Somalia. Following the attack, another tanker in the vicinity altered its course to avoid the area.
