The Colombian General Maritime Directorate (DIMAR) and the Navy’s Coast Guard Station activated emergency protocols following a distress report, though initial refloating efforts were delayed by adverse weather conditions. As a precaution, the Santa Marta Port Authority restricted local ship navigation and temporarily closed nearby beaches. She was successfully refloated on February 4th with the assistance of tugboats and towed to a terminal within the Port of Santa Marta for inspection. Investigators are considering strong cold fronts and poor sea conditions in the Colombian Caribbean as primary contributing factors to the incident. There were no injuries to the crew, and no damage to the vessel or pollution was reported.
