04 Feb 2026Detained/ArrestedOn February 4, 2026, an inspection of the chemical and oil products tanker Kongo Star (IMO 9508823) at the Covestro Pier in Brunsbüttel, Germany, revealed the illegal discharge of 2,200CBM of untreated ballast water into the North Sea.The vessel's first officer was identified as the party responsible for the incident. Following the discovery, the officers were required to pay a security deposit of €26,253.50. No injuries were reported, and the ship was permitted to depart Brunsbüttel during the late morning of February 5th.
