| 22 Jun 2026 | Medical Emergency | On June 22, 2026, the general cargo ship Star Hansa requested a medical evacuation for a crew member who had fallen critically ill while the vessel was transiting approximately 20 nautical miles east of Las Palmas, Canary Islands. The ship was en route from Portocel, Brazil, to Livorno, Italy. Evacuation Details: The Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) of Salvamento Marítimo in Las Palmas mobilized the search and rescue helicopter Helimer 205. The aircraft successfully rendezvoused with the vessel and performed a hoist operation to retrieve the patient. Outcome: The crew member was transported to the Doctor Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas for urgent medical treatment. Following the successful medevac, the Star Hansa resumed its voyage to Italy and was recorded underway in the Western Mediterranean as of June 23, 2026. There were no reports of further injuries or pollution. |
